Learn how loss impacts the aging process in this workshop led by Dr. Kathryn Lyndes, Associate Professor of Social Work and Gerontology at Saint Mary’s College.
Our experiences of loss are often minimized and made light of, when, in fact, even seemingly small losses can impact our daily experiences of aging. This workshop introduces loss as an important part of aging and explores how documenting losses through a simple timeline can help us acknowledge, accept, and process loss as a valid gateway to discovering what is meaningful to us.
Kathryn Lyndes has a background in social work and chaplaincy. She currently is an Associate Professor of Social Work and Gerontology at Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, IN where she teaches courses on aging, dementia, and grief and loss. She is especially interested in how older adults make meaning of – and find purpose in - aging from our diverse experiences of culture, spirituality, religion, and community.
