What Lawns Can Do For (or To) Pollinators

Discover the benefits of using native plants for landscaping and learn how your lawn can become a sanctuary for wildlife.

The presenter, John Hamilton, is a retired trial and appellate lawyer, who, over the years handled several environmental cases. Currently, John is a member of the Wild Ones South Bend Chapter.

While he has given talks on climate issues, it was not until two years ago that he discovered native plants' essential role in supporting all higher forms of life, including we humans, as well as butterflies and birds.  He and his wife are in the midst of adding native plants and removing invasive exotic ones at their 50 foot wide, 120 foot deep homesite in downtown South Bend. 

This talk will tell you how having a lawn is an opportunity to enrich our lives.  Imagine, for example, summer nights filled, once again, with thousands of fireflies.
