Join us in discussing Richard Blanco’s poetry book How to Love a Country, which addresses the complexities and contradictions of our nation and the unresolved sociopolitical matters that affect us all

Explore the poetry of Richard Blanco during a discussion led by Alaina Johansson, a graduate of the University of Notre Dame. Participants will discuss Como Tú / Like You / Like Me, a poem from Latino Poetry: The Library of America Anthology, as well as Blanco's book How to Love a Country, which addresses the complexities and contradictions of our nation and the unresolved sociopolitical matters that affect us all. Presented in partnership with Letras Latinas, the literary initiative at the Institute of Latino Studies at Notre Dame.

This program is presented as part of Latino Poetry: Places We Call Home, a major public humanities initiative taking place across the nation in 2024 and 2025, directed by Library of America and funded with generous support from the National Endowment for the Humanities and Emerson Collective.

On October 16 at 5pm, meet Richard Blanco and Rigoberto González, editor of Latino Poetry: The Library of America Anthology, at the Letras Latinas 20th Anniversary Event. This event is free and open to all. Learn more here
