Free tax assistance for low and middle income individuals provided by students from the University of Notre Dame and Saint Mary's College. Registration required.
Limited spots available. If filing jointly, you only need to register for one slot.
Please note: you must bring your original Social Security card and a photo ID.
Online registration for the ND/SMC Tax Assistance at the Main Library opens two weeks prior to each date. Registration for the first date opens February 1, 2024. Registration is highly recommended and preferred. Register online or by calling 574-282-4646. Services will be provided to walk-ins as time permits.
Eligibility Requirements
Must be US citizen or permanent resident
Income limit $67,000 for families and $34,000 for single individuals
We will prepare federal and Indiana returns only
Both taxpayers must be present if filing a joint tax return
Will Not Prepare Returns with the Following Situations:
Form 1040-NR
Returns for international students and scholars
Returns for active military personnel
State tax returns other than Indiana
Taxpayers who are in bankruptcy
Schedule C with loss, depreciation or business use of home
Complicated Schedule D (capital gains and losses)
Schedule E with rental income
Schedule F with farm income
Form SS-5 (request for Social Security number)
Form 8606 (non-deductible IRA)
Form 8814 (child taxed at parent's tax rate)
Parts 4 & 5 of Form 8962 (Premium Tax Credit)
