Making Waves: What Do You Do with a Sound? (Grades 9-12)

Explore the world of music and STEM by designing and building an instrument in this two-part workshop. Participants will compose & perform a song in a grand finale event on Saturday, March 26, 1-5pm.

Making Waves is an innovative STEM+Music program that sharpens students’ creative and analytical skills while building community. Presented in partnership with The Music Village and the Center for Civic Innovation in the College of Engineering at Notre Dame, Making Waves provides an opportunity for students to design, build, and analyze custom musical instruments and then compose and perform original works using those instruments. Learn more at makingwaveseducation.com

The March 21 & 23 session is recommended for Grades 9-12. Participants will build an instrument in the first session on March 21, and then learn to play the instrument in the second session on March 23. Participants from all three sessions will return to Main Library for a rehearsal and grand finale performance on Saturday, March 26, 1-5 p.m. For more information, contact Melody Lutz at m.lutz@sjcpl.org or 574-282-4658.
