An emotionally powerful & intimate musical tracing a 5-year relationship between Jamie Wellerstien and Cathy Heitt. This 75 min. musical drama is packed with laughter, tears, and unforgettable music.
To highlight the end of Art 4's fifth season of producing professional musical theatre in Northern Indiana, we explore the journey of two New Yorkers in their twenties who fall in and out of love. Tracing a five-year relationship between Jamie Wellerstein, a rising novelist, and Cathy Hiatt, a struggling actress, this one-act musical drama presents an unconventional form of storytelling. Jamie's viewpoint is told in chronological order (starting the show depicting a moment just after the couple first met), but Cathy's story is told backward when, at the top of the show, she sings about the end of their marriage. In addition to this unique method of storytelling, the characters also do not directly interact during the musical. They only meet once, at their wedding, which happens in the middle of the show and symbolizes the single moment when both were in perfect alignment. This December you won't want to miss an emotionally powerful and intimate musical drama composed by Jason Robert Brown called, The Last Five Years.
This one-act musical performs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from Dec. 2 - 18 at the Leighton Auditorium. Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for students and children. For more information and to purchase tickets online, visit art4sb.org.
