Join us virtually as we welcome award-winning author Ashley C. Ford for a conversation on her debut memoir, "Somebody's Daughter."
From her childhood in Fort Wayne to college days at Ball State to writing for worldwide outlets in New York City and back again to Indianapolis where she now lives and works, Ford brings both local interest and national acclaim. Telling the story of her relationship with her incarcerated father, Ford’s debut memoir, Somebody’s Daughter, explores themes of childhood, family, race, body image, education and home. Her memoir reveals the complexity of childhood, a journey to bring together the threads of identity and to understand complicated familial love.
Ford was one of eight Hoosiers who received the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana Authors Award in August 2022 from Indiana Humanities. Her visit is sponsored by Indiana Humanities.
