Learn more about the new three-year property tax credit for ages 55+ at an FAQ hosted by St. Joseph County officials.
Starting in 2024, St. Joseph County residents 55 and older will be able to apply for a property tax relief credit, paying no more than a 2-percent increase over the next three years. To qualify, residents must be 55 or older; have a homestead deduction; and have lived in their home for 10 years. There is no income limit. Learn more about who is eligible, how to apply, and how it compares to other tax credits by attending an FAQ session or visiting the St. Joseph County auditor website. Taxpayers may file for their 2025 tax bill beginning January 1, 2024 and have until December 31, 2024.
