An entrepreneur storytelling series is an opportunity to spotlight the creative, resilient individuals in your community.
After working several years in the state legislature, public affairs, community development, and political advocacy, Charity started her own business, Herstoric Development, where she is working on creating more quality, affordable housing, especially in neighborhoods that have seen drastic changes or are primed for gentrification. She is currently working on development projects in the Monroe Park Neighborhood that support the existing community and maintain and create affordable housing and retail options, as continued development in the downtown area is steadily eliminating these options.
Charity graduated from Indiana University South Bend with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Gender Studies and holds a Master of Public Administration in Nonprofit Management and Policy Analysis. She also completed classes in entrepreneurial business ownership and earned her core construction certifications. Charity currently serves as a founding board member of South Bend TradeWorks, which is a nonprofit organization working to preserve historic building materials and train more people in historic construction.
