By appointment only. The SBID program offers residents living in South Bend an optional identification card and aims to help those that have difficulty obtaining forms of photo ID
HOW TO OBTAIN AN ID:
La Casa de Amistad offer SBID days on Thursdays and have an appointment system set. To schedule an appointment, please call the La Casa de Amistad office at 574.233.2120.The SBID is $25 for community residents, with discounts for seniors 65+ ($20) and minors under 18 ($20).
Anyone applying for the identification will need to provide two proofs of identification and proof they reside in the City of South Bend.
Only original documents will be accepted. A full list can be found below.
BENEFITS:
The SBID is designed to help keep our community safe. The SBID allows residents to identify themselves for instances when picking up children from school, borrowing from the library, obtaining financial statements, and ordering official transcripts from a local college or university. A primary benefit will be to interact with City of South Bend services such as the South Bend Police Department, South Bend Fire Department, and city buildings and services. It is up to companies, vendors, and offices outside of city departments if they will accept the card for official purposes.
