4:00pm - 5:00pm
Western Branch
Western Meeting RoomCome and explore hands-on baking, ingredient sorting, and fun food science experiments to uncover the sweet science of cookies from dough to dessert. Ages 8-12 recommended.
A hands-on cookie science program exploring ingredients, leavening, and chemical reactions through experiments, games, and baking. Patrons will learn the different elements of baking: fat, protein, or carbohydrate AND solid, liquid, or gas. They will also learn about how changing cookie ingredients leads to a different taste/texture in the final cookie. Check out the work that Purdue Extension does and get involved with this link.
**This program involves ingredients that could contain common allergens. While we strive to provide ingredient information when available, the library cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment or prevent cross-contamination.
Participants with food allergies or dietary restrictions are encouraged to review ingredients carefully and take any necessary precautions. Caregivers should assist children in making safe choices.
