“When Black mothers die there’s a ripple effect, we call it aftershock.” Watch this film about advocates fighting for maternal justice, followed by a discussion with local health professionals.
Following the preventable deaths of two young women due to childbirth complications, two bereaved families galvanize activists, birth-workers and physicians to reckon with one of the most pressing American crises: the US maternal health crisis. Our screening of the documentary film from 2022 will be followed by a panel discussion with local maternal and child health professionals. Co-sponsored by the IU South Bend Women's and Gender Studies Program.
