Explore the history of South Bend as well as plans for the future of historic preservation during a screening of a documentary by writer and photographer Lou Sabo and editor Vince Sipocz.
South Bend Lost and Saved is a documentary written and photographed by Lou Sabo and edited by Vince Sipocz. Use is made of the photos in the Lou Sabo Collection in Michiana Memory, SJCPL’s local history archive, as well as the South Bend Tribune, postcards, various books, and interviews with several people involved in historic preservation and city planning. Highlighted are the lost, saved, and outstanding survivors of South Bend's commercial buildings, as well as homes. The purpose of the documentary is to educate and entertain those who remember all we've lost, and encourage a younger generation to appreciate what we have left.
Run time is 1 hour and 15 minutes. Discussion will follow.
