Spooky Short Story Writing Contest

All day
Write a scary short story (1 to 3 pages) to delight and fright readers of all ages. Winners will be contacted prior to award ceremony on Thursday, October 29 in the Storyhouse. For grades 3-12.
Age Brackets & Prizes
Grades 3–5: $50 winner, $25 × 2 runners‑up
Grades 6–8: same
Grades 9–12: same
How to Enter
Write an original spooky story. Fan fiction and borrowed ideas will be disqualified. We want to read your unique creativite writing!
Keep it short – max of 3 handwritten pages, or 1 typed, single spaced page.
Keep it clean – no extreme gore or violence
Submit your entry at any library branch or online using the submission link.
Judging & Notifications
Top three stories in each age bracket earn the prizes above; we’ll call winners by mid‑October. All participants (and fans) are invited to the awards night on October 29th at the Main Library. Finalists may read their tales aloud if they wish, or they can ask a librarian to read it. *Due to the high volume of entries we recieve, we are only able to contact the winning participants.
